A Message From Dr. Stinar, CEO of FCHC
The Fredericksburg Christian Health Center team is grieved to hear about the closing of the Moss Free Clinic. For over 20 years, FCHC and MFC have worked together to care for the underserved in our community. MFC played a crucial role in helping the uninsured in our region through Medical services, dental screenings, and most critically, through their Community Pharmacy service.
It’s uncertain how the healthcare community will now care for the hundreds of uninsured patients who’ve lost their medical home. As the CEO of FCHC, I’ve been working closely with the leadership from MFC, Mary Washington Health Care and the Health Department to create solutions.
Helping the former MFC patients is a top priority for FCHC at the moment and we’re currently adding appointments to our schedule to open space for our neighbors coming form Moss Free Clinic. All other new patient appointments may be limited in the meantime.
We ask for your patience for our team over the coming weeks as phone and appointment wait times may be longer, and routine visits may be rescheduled as we respond to this crisis.
Because our physicians prioritize extra time with our patients, they can only see so many patients each day. Revenue from insured patient care doesn’t result in profit for FCHC and our programs are largely supported by the generosity of our community. Now more than ever, FCHC is counting on your support to help us expand our charity programs to serve our neighbors in need. If you feel called to support FCHC as we continue to serve our underinsured neighbors during this crisis, you can do so by clicking here.
Philippians 4:6-7 says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…”
There will be a lot of uncertainty in the weeks to come and FCHC will be doing as much as we can to fill the gap in services. We ask that you join us in praying for the former MFC patients and praying for those of us that continue to serve the poor and vulnerable in our community.

What This Means for FCHC
At FCHC, our mission is to provide the highest quality care that we can to our neighbors who’ve too often been overlooked or forgotten by the healthcare industry. With the sudden closure of the Moss Free Clinic, we’re doing everything in our power to ensure that our over 400 neighbors who relied on the clinic’s services aren’t left behind in this transition. During this time of change, we want to let all our patients know that we’re still here to provide them with the same compassionate care they’re used to, but you may notice a few minor changes over the coming weeks.
Wait Time Between Appointments- To accommodate for new patients, please expect a longer wait time between appointments. This change should not impact any appointments that have already been booked.
Response Time- As we take on new patients, there may be a delay in responding to voice mails and messages over MyChart. We apologize for any inconvenience and will respond to all messages as quickly as possible.
We do not anticipate these changes to be permanent and appreciate your understanding as we navigate this crisis. For any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 540-785-8500.
How Can I Help?
Pray- Please keep everyone who relied on the Moss Free Clinic in your prayers, especially the patients they served and the staff they employed. Please also keep FCHC staff in your prayers as we prepare to care for an influx of new patients.
Give- Now more than ever, Fredericksburg Christian Health Center is relying on your generosity to help care for our uninsured neighbors. Your gift to our charity care program brings hope and healing to those in need. Click below to make a difference today.
